Air Vice Marshal MAHMUD HUSSAIN (Retd.)
Air Vice Marshal Mahmud Hussain (Retd) is a retired air
force officer. He was Bangladesh High Commissioner to Brunei Darussalam from
November 2016 to September 2020. He was also Chairman, Civil Aviation Authority
of Bangladesh (CAAB). Currently, he is working as Distinguished Expert at
Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Aviation and Aerospace University (BSMRAAU).
Air Vice Marshal MAHMUD HUSSAIN, BBP, OSP, ndc, psc, acsc,
GD(P) joined Bangladesh Air Force in 1979, and retired after 37 years of
service in 2017. He was an operational Helicopter Pilot. He was a Qualified
Flying Instructor (QFI).
He commanded two operational
flying squadrons at Dhaka and Chittagong. He was the Base Commander of BAF Base
BASHAR. He completed his Staff Course and National Defence Course at Defence
Services Command and Staff College (DSCSC) and National Defence College (NDC)
respectively. He also completed his staff course from the Air University, USA
and obtained a Master in Operational Art and Science degree. He obtained his
Master in Defence Studies (MDS) and Master in Philosophy (M Phil) in Security
Studies from National University, Bangladesh. He served as the Faculty Member
both at Staff College and National Defence College.
He served in two UN
missions. In 1993-94, he worked as the Military Observer in UNPROFOR in Former
Republic of Yugoslavia. He was the first Contingent Commander of Bangladesh Air
Force in 2003-2004 in MONUC, Democratic Republic of Congo. He served as the
Chairman of Bangladesh Civil Aviation Authority from May 2010 to October 2014.
He was also elected as the Chairman of the Steering Committee of COSCAP-South
Asia which is the regional forum of the Directors General of SAARC Civil
Aviation Authorities in 2011-2013. He was also Bangladesh High Commissioner to
Brunei Darussalam from November 2016 to September 2020. Currently, he is
serving as the Distinguished Expert at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman
Aviation and Aerospace University (BSMRAAU).
