Rabb Majumder's Journey: An Account of Devotion and Passion
Rabb Majumder has established himself as a well-known
journalist in the vibrant metropolis of Dhaka, where the sound of rustling
newspapers permeates the streets and life's rhythm beats through them. His
quest started a long time ago, driven by a love of telling stories and a desire
to reveal the truth. Rabb began his academic career at the University of
Rajshahi, where he earned a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science in
Environmental Studies and Geography, which he completed in 1987. Even at that
time, he shown a strong interest in the media; under the direction of the
distinguished Professor Serajul Arefin, he focused his master's thesis on
examining Bangladesh's newspaper circulation pattern. Rabb entered the
journalism field in 1982, working as a correspondent for Rajshahi University.
This first venture set the stage for an extraordinary journey. He refined his
abilities in several prestigious periodicals in Dhaka in the ensuing years. He
gained experience in the field while working as a staff reporter for The New
Nation from 1987 to 1990. His perseverance helped him advance, landing him
positions as a senior reporter at The Morning Sun from 1991 to 1994 and
later as a special correspondent for a number of prestigious magazines, such as
The Bangladesh Today and Asian Times in New York. Rabb's
dedication to journalism excellence prompted him to pursue additional
education, which improved his abilities and expertise. He took part in
specialised courses offered by the Reuters Foundation that concentrated on
unique storytelling and reporting. He also received writing and reporting
instruction from the Bangladesh Press Institute and AMIC. His knowledge of the
craft was enhanced by these encounters, which also equipped him for the
difficulties that lay ahead. Rabb's reputation expanded with every year, and by
the early 2000s, he was recognised as an authoritative voice in the subject.
Because of his commitment to journalism, he served as editor of Local Govt.
NEWS, a monthly publication sponsored by the LGRD Ministry and UNDP, from
2002 to 2004. He interacted with communities during this period to learn about
their needs and goals in addition to reporting on local administration. As the
editor and producer of WHAT ISLAM SAYS, WHAT WE DO?, an anti-terrorism
program that ran on ATN BANGLA from 2004 to 2016, Rabb's commitment to social
concerns reached its zenith. This project demonstrated his dedication to
advancing understanding and peace in a world that is frequently split by
strife. Rabb continues to negotiate the intricacies of security and societal
concerns in his current role as editor of the specialised journal The
Security World. His observations and analysis have significantly influenced
Bangladeshi public opinion. Rabb has been involved in a number of organisations
outside of the newsroom, such as the Feni Diabetic Society and the Dhaka Union
of Journalists. He fostered a new generation of journalists by serving as the
president and secretary of the Rajshahi University Journalist Association,
demonstrating his leadership abilities. In addition to his professional
achievements, Rabb Majumder's career represents a lifetime dedication to social
justice, honesty, and integrity. He never wavers in his goal of shedding light
on the way to a society that is more knowledgeable and caring with each piece
of writing and program he creates. Rabb is a living example of how journalism
can improve the world as he keeps telling stories that have an impact.
