Commodore Kazi Emdadul Haq (Retd.)
Commodore Kazi Emdadul Haq (Retd) BSP, ndu, psc. Founding
Member, BIMRAD.
Retired Commodore and an electrical engineer. Had experience
serving as Director in Prime Minister’s Office, National Parliament and
Managing Director of a dockyard. A freelance writer on maritime affairs.
I’m a Commodore(retired) and an Electrical Engineer. I had
gone through some challenging appointments like Managing Director of a
Dockyard, Director-general in Prime Minister’s Office, Serjeant at arms at
National Parliament, and lastly, the Director-general of a nonprofit research
institution.
l I was able to
make the dockyard a profitable industry from the loss incurred in previous
years. Multiple projects are simultaneously run and managed successfully. Also,
I had a responsibility to run the administration of the dockyard school.
l During my
service in Prime Minister’s Office, I had the opportunity to work with all
levels of people – civil administration, Nongovernment Organisations, general
people, politicians, and so on. I presided over the district-level meetings for
the smooth conduct of the programs.
l I was also the
Chief Coordinator/project director of a gigantic project named “Lakho Konthe
Sonar Bangla”. It was a one-time program where 254681 people sang the national
anthem in an open field on 26 March 2014 to get the “Guinness Book of Records”.
It was a successful program, and I went to the UK to receive the certificate
and also later, I was decorated with a gallantry award.
l Bangladesh
Naval Headquarters chose me as the first director-general of a nonprofit
maritime research institution, Bangladesh Institution of Maritime Research and
Development (BIMRAD), where I successfully completed the foundation, and then
made the institution known to the world through my personal efforts. I have
conducted numerous meetings, international webinars/seminars and also
participated as a keynote speaker. My articles on maritime and international
affairs are published in different newspapers, magazines, and web journals.
I’m retired yet ready to take on challenges in some new
fields with a motive in contributing rather than gain.
